Erin Majka assumed the role of President of the Board of Directors of the Hospital Hospitality House of Southwest Michigan (HHH) on January 18th, 2018. She will be starting her fourth year as a Board member at the Annual meeting that day. The HHH mission is to “make it easier for families to support their loved ones receiving medical care by providing them a homelike, comfortable place to stay.” The House is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, for guest referred by organizations in the Kalamazoo County area, such as Borgess Medical Center, Bronson Methodist Hospital, and the West Michigan Cancer Center. . It serves over 700 guests annually from all Michigan counties, all 50 states, and many foreign countries. The House offers kitchen and laundry facilities, family visiting areas, and a relaxing patio and garden area. HHH guests are not charged for their stay. The organization is funded solely through the generosity of donors and grants. The organization recently completed construction of a new house on Henson Avenue, and it is working to complete its capital campaign in order to build a second new house. These two new accessible houses will replace our original location, which is a lovely home, but at over 100 years of age, the home presents barriers to many potential guests.
