About Susan
Susan L. Chalgian concentrates her practice in the areas of elder law, probate litigation, estate planning, and special needs planning.
She is the current Chair of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section, a current Council member for the Probate and Estate Planning Section, and a past President of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She is an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Susan leads in Michigan’s attorney education as a member of the ICLE Elder Law Advisory Planning Committee and co-author of the ICLE publications, “Advising the Older Client or Client with Disability” and the “Michigan Medicaid Planning Handbook.” She is a frequent speaker to both professional audiences and community groups.
From 2019 forward, Susan has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine. She was recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in their “Up & Coming” Class of 2021, Best Lawyers in America as Ones to Watch in elder law for 2024 and 2025, and by the Ingham County Bar Association as “Top 5 Under 25” in 2025.
